Albuterol HFA

Albuterol HFA 90 mcg Inhaler is a prescription rescue inhaler used to treat or help prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease, such as asthma. It may also be prescribed to help prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients 4 years and older.

• Contains albuterol, a beta2-adrenergic agonist bronchodilator
• Helps open narrowed airways so breathing may feel easier
• Used by oral inhalation only
• May be used for symptoms or before exercise when prescribed
• Not a replacement for controller asthma treatment if your provider says you need one
• Use only as directed by your healthcare provider

Use Albuterol HFA exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is inhaled through the mouth and is generally used when needed for bronchospasm symptoms or before exercise if your provider prescribes it for exercise-induced bronchospasm.

• Shake the inhaler before each spray
• Do not use more often or take more puffs than prescribed
• Follow the instructions for priming and cleaning the inhaler
• Ask your provider if you’re not sure how to use it
• Tell your provider if you need it more often than usual
• Seek medical help oe call 911 if your breathing gets worse or the inhaler is not helping

Like all prescription medicines, Albuterol HFA can cause side effects. Common side effects may include headache, fast heartbeat, dizziness, throat irritation, runny nose, pain, shakiness, nervousness, chest discomfort, or a feeling of your heart racing.

• Some people may have heart-related effects, such as changes in pulse or blood pressure
• Rarely, breathing can suddenly get worse right after using the inhaler
• Allergic reactions may include rash, swelling, hives, trouble breathing, or throat swelling
• Contact your provider if side effects bother you or do not go away
• Seek urgent care if you have severe breathing problems, chest pain, or signs of a serious allergic reaction

Albuterol HFA is a fast-acting rescue inhaler used for bronchospasm symptoms or before exercise when prescribed. It helps relax airway muscles, but it does not replace a daily controller medication if your healthcare provider says you need one. Yes. Albuterol HFA is a prescription medicine. You’ll need a provider to review your health history, symptoms, current medications, and any asthma-related concerns before it can be prescribed.

Tell the provider about your breathing symptoms, how often they happen, what triggers them, and whether you already use an inhaler or asthma controller medication. Also share your medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or nursing status, and any medications you take, especially heart medicines, beta-blockers, diuretics, digoxin, antidepressants, or other inhalers.

Albuterol HFA may be prescribed to help prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients 4 years and older. Use it only as directed by your healthcare provider, and do not take extra puffs or use it more often than prescribed.

Get medical help if your breathing gets worse, your inhaler does not help, or you need it more often than usual. Sudden worsening of breathing after using the inhaler, chest pain, severe wheezing, or signs of an allergic reaction need urgent medical attention.
